"In the summer of 1838, the Saints were experiencing significant financial difficulties as they attempted to build up the Church in northern Missouri. The Prophet Joseph Smith sought direction from the Lord, and on July 8, 1838, he received the revelations recorded in Doctrine and Covenants 119 and 120.
